adidas and Foot Locker are leaders in the worlds of sport and culture. This makes them the perfect partnership for launching adidas SPEEDFACTORY. This platform of expression adapts to the flow of creative culture and hands a megaphone to today’s creative voices.

SPEEDFACTORY produces quick-turn, limited-run shoes with designs sourced from the community, inspired by everything from the Super Bowl to the release of Captain Marvel to the talents of local up-and-coming creators.

Design student Kayla Donaldson won a contest through Pensole Footwear Academy to get her shoe produced through the SPEEDFACTORY. Her design (drawn on Post-it notes) was inspired by Detroit, her hometown and the city she loves.

During the opening week of the brand new “Foot Locker Power Store” in Detroit, we hosted an event to celebrate Kayla and the drop of her shoe, the AM4DET. As a hyper-limited run, only 100 pairs were made and they were all sold out within hours.

The long-form video we created with Kayla was shared across digital and social channels, giving her a stage to tell her story, the inspiration behind her shoe and her design process.
